Things to Look Forward to in the New Year

Things to Look Forward to in the New Year

  • Exercising More – Thanksgiving and Christmas packed on a few extra pounds you want to work off, start walking around your neighborhood or favorite park for 30 minutes to an hour three times a week. And don’t forget to stretch your body!
  • Letting Go – Things got crazy, relationships ended, friendships ended, jobs ended but there is absolutely no need to drag that baggage into the new year. Sing it with me, “Let it go, let it go.” Forgive and move on.
  • New Opportunities – The letting go, forgiving and moving on opens our world up to new opportunities. Carrying baggage from old situations into new opportunities is never a good idea.
  • Eating Better – You tried it last year but fell off the wagon, hey it happens. Remember establishing healthy eating habits has great benefits like reducing your risk for type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol & high/low blood pressure.
  • Writing down your thoughts – This is a big help in allowing you to visualize and plan for the future. Plus, you’ll probably get a kick out of re-reading what you wrote about your wants, needs and feels when some time has passed.
  • Giving/Volunteering – If you’re depressed, helping someone else can really offer a bright spot in the space of despair in your life. Giving your time, money, care and love and seeing how you’ve impacted someone’s life can offer you an instant pick me up.
  • Finding Positivity Daily – The news is full of reports of injustice, racism, rape, abuse, war, etc. We are negative with ourselves and our dreams at times. Instead of focusing on all the negativity, seek to find the positive, even if it’s a thought of a brighter day. “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.” – Willie Nelson
  • Starting Something New – Sometimes our lives get stale. We wake up one day realizing we’re not happy and we’ve realized our dream but aren’t doing anything about it. This acknowledgement is our opportunity to find our why and start something fresh.
  • Inspiration – It doesn’t hit all the time but when it does, it can be life changing. Always seek inspiration and you’ll find it.
  • Lasting Happiness – Not just plain happiness, that’s great. Hoo-ray! But, lasting happiness that reoccurs continuously. Life is going to thrown us all curve balls whether it is divorce, death, or illness but it is up to us to rise and catch those curve balls, reach towards our lasting happiness and push to maintain it.
  • Pampering Yourself Weekly – We must always remember to appreciate and love ourselves as we extend our love to family, friends and even strangers.
  • Saving Money – Trying every week to save money is a great challenge but there needs to be other ways to capitalize on saving that can, not only save money but earn while you save. Deborah Owens, wealth coach, has great ideas for building wealth.

  • An Improving Economy – Reports are forecasting the economy to continue it’s improvement. Hopefully, more people will be hired into jobs for the long term and more people are able to afford health insurance. Trouble won’t last always!
  • Great Possibilities – We’ve got another full 365 days of amazing possibilities that can happen to us. Make sure you evaluate each and every one and consider the best choice.
