Additional Ingredients that Exfoliating Products Use
Besides containing the exfoliating agent, an exfoliator may also contain the following ingredients.
Vitamins are mostly included in the list of exfoliator’s ingredients because of their beneficial effects to the skin. The most commonly used vitamins in most exfoliators are vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. Vitamin A, in the form of retinol, eliminates many signs of premature aging, including under-eye bags and crow’s feet; vitamin C is an antioxidant that eliminates free radicals, improves skin tone, and strengthens the skin; and vitamin E makes the skin smoother, healthier and stronger.
Aloe vera is often found in exfoliators for dry skin. Aloe vera moisturizes the skin and normalizes the activity of the exfoliating particles, which tend to cause skin dryness. Other moisturizers, including natural and synthetic, may also be used for this purpose.
Collagen is like a building block for the skin. When applied to the skin, it will repair damaged skin and fade the appearance of wrinkles.
Most exfoliators also have essential oils in them to soothe the skin and to cure eczema, acne and other skin conditions. The most commonly used oil for this purpose is tea tree oil.
Witch hazel is a good exfoliator for treating oily skin. Witch hazel also has a healing effect that improves the overall health of the skin.
As new innovations are introduced, newly released exfoliators may introduce new ingredients; however, in general, most of those recently discovered ingredients offer functions that are comparable to those of ingredients that we have mentioned above.
It is not hard for men to find the best face exfoliator for men. If they are aware of their skin type and condition as well as the effects that they expect to occur from using an exfoliator, they can mostly choose the right product with no trouble. Their knowledge of how exfoliation works will help them treat their skin more properly and effectively.
